Porridge and Oak is a Brisbane-based furniture maker and design studio specialising in custom, made-to-order furniture. All pieces are designed and handcrafted in our Brisbane workshop, produced from our own in-house collection and through a carefully limited number of custom furniture commissions each year.

Our custom furniture is guided by the same principles that shape our collection pieces: proportion, material honesty, and longevity. Every piece is thoughtfully designed to suit its space, purpose, and everyday use. Furniture intended to be lived with rather than treated as a one-off feature.

Our Custom Furniture Process

How Does the Custom Furniture Design Process Work?

Each custom furniture project begins with a clear design direction informed by your brief, space, and intended use. Design development focuses on proportion, material selection, and functional detail so the piece sits comfortably within its environment.

Once the design direction is agreed, we prepare detailed furniture drawings outlining dimensions, materials, and construction. These drawings form the basis for approval prior to production.

All furniture is handmade in our Brisbane workshop using solid timber and traditional joinery techniques. Our process prioritises craftsmanship, durability, and material integrity.
