Porridge & Oak is a Brisbane-based furniture maker and design studio specialising in custom furniture. Each commission is designed and made in our Brisbane workshop, alongside our own collection of furniture. We accept a limited number of commissions each year, which gives us the time to give each project the attention it deserves.
We design everything from individual chairs, tables and cabinets to groups of furniture for a complete room or interior. Our custom furniture follows the same principles as our collection pieces: good proportion, honest materials and longevity. Each piece is developed around where it will live, how it will be used and the materials that suit it best.
Each commission is designed in-house in response to its setting, purpose and use. By keeping the design and making together, we consider everything from proportion and materials to construction and finish. Creating furniture that feels as though it has always belonged.
The cost of each commission reflects the materials, complexity and workshop time required to make it. Once the design direction, materials and scope have been agreed, we will prepare a detailed quotation for your approval. A 50% deposit secures your production period and allows us to order the materials required. The remaining balance is due before the finished piece leaves our workshop for collection or delivery.
We generally work to a 10 week lead time from receipt of a deposit and approval of the final design. Our lead times vary throughout the year. If you need your furniture by a particular date, please let us know when enquiring so we can confirm whether the timing can be accommodated.
We deliver throughout Brisbane and work with trusted specialist furniture carriers for deliveries across Queensland and Australia.
Each piece is carefully blanket-wrapped and protected for transport. Delivery is quoted separately according to the size of the piece, destination, access and level of service required.
